It’s snowing, it’s drifting, and skiers are celebrating!

The snows have piled up on Baldy and neighboring mountains since last Wednesday.

According to Sun Valley Ski Patroller Mike Lloyd, Baldy has received 15 inches of new snow over the past week and the ski patrol is expecting more through the week to come.

"The skiing has been fabulous," Lloyd said.

He pointed out that the upper Bowls are great, the crud is good and the groomed runs couldn’t be better.

Galena Lodge is reporting that two and a half feet of snow has fallen since last Wednesday, and according to Jacob Schmillen, one of Galena’s employees, the skiing is soft. He said that the conditions are good for classic skiing.

"A lot of hard-core people have been up taking advantage of the snow," he said.

The Weather Channel’s on-line weather service is forecasting snow through tomorrow, a one-day break of sunshine on Friday and more snow for the weekend.
