Firefighters Experience Front-Line Heat
Firefighters assess the conditions of a raging house fire in Hailey that was started intentionally on Saturday to provide live fire training. The fire was set in an acquired structure on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Walnut Street. Seven response exercises were completed by 33 firefighters from the Hailey, Sun Valley, Ketchum, Wood River, Bellevue and West Magic fire departments. Members of the Hailey Fire Explorers—high school juniors and seniors who assist in a safe and supportive role—also participated. Prior to the burn, the house was utilized for additional training. “The ability for all local departments to work and train together is invaluable training,” said Hailey Fire Chief Craig Aberbach. “It gives us the opportunity for all firefighters to meet and work together.” Photo by Willy Cook
