'70s rockers still going strong

Guitarist Patrick Simmons of The Doobie Brothers hits a note during the classic rock band’s show Wednesday at the Sun Valley Pavilion. The concert—presented by the Killebrew-Thompson golf tournament—was a fundraiser for cancer research. The Doobie Brothers had broad fame in the 1970s and have toured with different members since the band first broke up in 1982. Simmons, who wrote several hits including “Black Water,” has been the most consistent member of the band throughout its tenure. Photo by Roland Lane
