BLM battles blazes along highway

U.S. Bureau of Land Management firefighters, assisted by several local fire departments, battled three different wildfires that were sparked Tuesday along state Highway 75 east of Magic Reservoir. BLM spokeswoman Heather Tiel-Nelson said a total of about 18 acres of brush was burned and that all the fires were either contained or expected to be contained by early Tuesday evening. The cause of the fires remained under investigation, with one possible cause being a chain that was dragged by a pickup truck that caused sparks along the highway. Assisting BLM were crews for the Hailey, Bellevue, Carey and West Magic fire departments. Shown here is a BLM tanker dousing hot spots with a front-end sprayer. Photo by Willy Cook
