In Good Company
World-record-holding skateboard legend Christian Hosoi meets the latest generation of fans, who gathered Saturday at the Hailey Skatepark for a sponsored competition. A large crowd gathered as 45 kids competed, which consisted of age-appropriate heats and up to three 45-second chances. First-place finishers were: Luca Calcagno, 6 and under; Gage Wilson, 7-8 years old; Jake Charpentier, 9-10 years old; Jed Waters, 11-12 years old; Booie Curtis, 13-14 years old; Gabe Partida, 15-16 years old; Wyatt Caccia, 17-20 years old; Daniel Martinez, 21 and ups. The top three girls were Phoebe Erickson, 11-12 years old; Olive Gilbert, 7-8 years old; and Devon Peterson, 9-10 years old. Hosoi started skateboarding at around age 7 and turned pro at 14. The Wood River Assembly of God Church in Hailey brought Hosoi to the valley for the weekend. For a full story, see the Friday, Sept. 13, edition of the Idaho Mountain Express. Photo by Roland Lane
