Clear Skies For Summer Farewell
Thousands of Wagon Days Big Hitch Parade spectators relished the clear skies of the post-Beaver Creek Fire holiday weekend on Saturday, Aug. 31, as the parade rolled through Ketchum and Sun Valley. As always, the grand finale to the hour-long parade was the arrival of the Big Hitch—the six original Lewis Fast Freight Line ore wagons that in olden days were used to move ore from the mountains to the valleys. The jerkline of 20 draft mules pulled the wagons as the crowd stood in respectful silence so the mules could obey the voice commands of the driver, professional muleskinner Bobby Tanner of Bishop, Calif.
