NEWS UPDATES:

Blasting down Baldy

Eric Rector, 50, of Hailey, above, is the director of trails and facilities for the Blaine County Recreation District. But last weekend, Rector joined 150 other mountain bikers in beating the heat by riding high on Bald Mountain. They raced in the Sun Valley Super Enduro stage race—the first event in the 10-day Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival. Rector, one of the senior racers in the field, placed seventh in the Expert 40-plus class for his four downhill runs down Baldy over two days. He had a combined time of 1.38:24. His best result came in Saturday’s first stage, a 33:24 run from Baldy’s summit to the bottom of Warm Springs, good for fourth place in his class and 26th overall. Photo by Willy Cook
