Years Later, Mother Still Mourns

JoLeta Jenks, with her dog Jackson, sits Friday at a roadside memorial for her daughter Sage Aragon, at the site where 11-year-old Sage died of hypothermia on Christmas Day 2008. Sage died on West Magic Road west of state Highway 75 while trying to walk toward Magic Reservoir to meet her mother for Christmas. With her brother Bear, Sage tried to make the trek during a snowstorm after her father’s car got stuck in deep snow. Bear survived the incident. “I miss her so much,” Jenks said.
