Ketchum Ice Rink To Open Today Ketchum Recreation Supervisor John Kearney Jr. saturates the Christina Potters Outdoor Ice Rink at Atkinson Park on Wednesday morning. The rink is scheduled to open today, Dec. 21, for its 16th season. Kearney said preparing the rink’s surface for opening day is a team effort, with three people on staff working 24 hours a day. According to a recent Ketchum Parks and Recreation Department news release, use of the facility is free, and hours of operation are dawn until dusk, seven days a week until about mid-February, depending on the weather. The department can provide free skates (both figure and hockey), helmets, hockey sticks, pucks, goals and a broomball set. “We’re excited to get it going again,” said department Director Jennifer Smith. “It looks beautiful.” Photo by Roland Lane
