Lonesome Larry, the sole member of the 1992 sockeye salmon run to Redfish Lake, hangs preserved on the wall of the M.K. Nature Center in Boise. Twenty years after the fish’s return, sockeye numbers are up overall, but down significantly from last year, leaving the state of the species in flux. Courtesy photo by Greg Stahl/IRU
