On A Perfect Day, Records Fall

Fourth-year U.S. Nordic Ski Team racer Morgan Arritola, 24, of Ketchum, reaches the top of Bald Mountain Saturday to finish her record-breaking 39 minute and 53 second climb from the 5,880-foot base elevation to the 9,020-foot Baldy summit. She became the first female climber in the 32 years of the Baldy Hill Climb to break 40 minutes for the 1.86-mile ascent. 2010 U.S. Olympian Arritola, fourth overall among the 99 racers, joined a record crowd of 275 climbers and bikers for Saturday’s event. Men’s winner Miles Fink-Debray and racers Bill Nurge, Matt Luhn and Sara Schroeder also set records. Photo by Willy Cook
