Glide For Pride
James Thompson, from Newcastle, N.S.W., Australia, flies over the flanks of Bald Mountain before landing near the upper parking lot at River Run on a practice paragliding flight Saturday. Eighty-eight American and foreign pilots are in Ketchum this week competing in the 2010 U.S. Paragliding National Championships. The weather has not been cooperating with their long-distance flying “tasks,” but race organizers are now hopeful of getting four competitions completed by Sunday. The international field includes pilots representing Poland, Japan, Czech Republic, Australia, Hungary, France, Turkey, Mexico, Russia, South Africa and Canada. Photo by Willy Cook
