Not Your Average Operation

Dr. Randy Acker, right, and Denise Young of the Sun Valley Animal Center give a wounded bald eagle a second chance at life on Wednesday. The bird, which was shot near a farm in Eagle, Idaho, in late March, underwent surgery to replace almost 3 inches of dead and missing bone in one of its legs. Acker, who is known for his orthopedic work on dogs in the valley, said the techniques he used on the eagle are very similar. To read more, go to Wounded Pride Photo by David N. Seelig
