Flames Consume Ketchum Garage

Ketchum Fire Department engineer Anne Stout and KFD Lt. Lara McLean battle a garage fire at 300 Edelweiss in Ketchum at about 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. The Ketchum and Sun Valley fire departments both responded to the blaze. Ketchum Fire Chief Mike Elle said the fire is of suspicious nature and is being investigated. He said the garage was a total loss, with damage estimated at $20,000. Elle said the structure was owned by George Detweiler, a longtime resident who now lives in Twin Falls. Two engines from Sun Valley and two engines plus an aerial tower from Ketchum were sent to fight the fire. Elle expressed appreciation to some dozen neighbors who assisted firefighters by helping lay down hoses to the closest fire hydrant. Photo by Willy Cook
