The Powder Gods Giveth

A flash of color in an otherwise plain world of white, a lone skier heads down the upper flanks of Bald Mountain Saturday. Skiers over the weekend enjoyed the fruits of a storm that dropped nearly 2 feet of powder on the high elevations of Baldy late Wednesday and Thursday. Sun Valley Resort reported Tuesday that the ski mountain has a 65-inch snow base near the summit, 48-inch base at mid-mountain, and 35-inch base at the bottom. Dollar Mountain, Sun Valley's beginner's hill, is set to reopen Saturday, Dec. 10, after a brief post-Thanksgiving closure. Photo by Willy Cook
