?Tis the season Steve Spengler, owner of Crow?s Nest Ranch Hunting Preserve, 8 miles south of Mackay, and his dog Keeper flush a nice ring-neck pheasant out of some of his 1,000 acres of cover at the base of the Lost River Range Mountains. Spengler operates his preserve for chukar and pheasant hunting from Aug. 15 through April 15. ?Running a preserve is like an Easter egg hunt for adults,? Spengler said.
