Dave Swenke (4-for-4, 4 runs) led off with his fourth hit and scored the eventual game-winning run in the home sixth for Empty Beer. The Pioneer, trailing 12-8 in the seventh, made it close with 3 runs but fell short of the equalizer. Empty Beer: Julie Swenke double and 2 runs, Jim Carlsen 2 HR. Pioneer: John Fanghella 3 hits (HR) and 2 runs, Steve McCoy 3 hits (double) and 2 runs.



Ketchum/SV Firefighters 12, Lefty?s Bar & Grill 9

The Firefighters (19 hits) jumped out to a 9-4 lead after four frames. Firefighters: Matt Christian 4 hits and 3 runs, Keith Potter 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Ed Binnie and Pam Rudolph 3 hits apiece. Lefty?s: Buffalo Rixon 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Tony Mallane 2 hits (double).



Whitehead Landscaping 20, Casino 10

Jimmy Bradley cranked out a pair of 3-run HRs in the first two innings, helping stake Whitehead (21 hits) to a 12-3 lead. Whitehead: Tracy Ireland 2 hits and 4 runs, Brian Nelson 3 hits (2 doubles, triple), Nicola Brashears 3 hits (double), Anthony Rooney 2 hits and 3 runs. Casino: Jerod Ball 3 hits (HR, 2 doubles) and 3 runs, Anthony Anderson 3 hits (3-run HR).



View Point 17, Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt 6

Rod Watson went 4-for-4, hitting for the cycle as two-time defending tournament champion View Point opened its 2004 tournament quest with a 25-hit attack. View Point: Robin Sarchett 3 hits (HR, triple, double) and 3 runs, Wendy Hosman 3 hits. Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt: Eric Ayers 2 hits and 3 runs, Pat McGee 3 hits (3-run HR).



Color Haus 19, East Ave. Bistro/Empty Beer 5

Color Haus, in its first tournament game, displayed the excellent team hitting that carried it to the championship. Color Haus tallied 6 runs on 8 hits in the first, and 12 runs on 5 hits in the third. Color Haus: Lars Hovey 3 hits (3-run HR), Jeff Burrell 3-run HR, Chris Benson 2 hits (triple) and 3 runs, Bryan Burrell 2 hits and 2 runs, John Rathfon 2 hits (3-run HR, triple) and 2 runs, Bonnie Burrell 2 hits and 2 runs. Empty Beer: Mike Davis 3 hits and 2 runs.


View Point 16, Ketchum/SV Firefighters 6

Leadoff hitter Jeff Sarchett (3-for-3, triple, 4 runs) got the View Point attack in gear and the defending champs made it two straight games with 25 hits. View Point: Robin Sarchett 3 hits, Nelson Drewien 2 hits and 2 runs, Jay Singleton 3 hits (2 HR, 4 RBI). Firefighters: Matt Christian 3 hits (HR, 2 doubles) and 2 runs; 2 hits apiece for Karly Maratea, Lindsey Vanbramer, Matt Zachary (HR) and Ken Edwards.



Color Haus 20, Whitehead Landscaping 11

Josh Jacobson?s grand slam HR sparked a 10-run, 8-hit second that gave Color Haus (25 hits) an overwhelming 13-2 lead after two innings. Color Haus: Lars Hovey 4 hits (2 triples, double) and 3 runs, Kathy Harper Seal 3 triples and 4 RBI, Bryan Burrell 3 hits (2 triples) and 3 runs, Chris Benson 4 hits (2-run HR), Bonnie Burrell and Jeff Burrell 3 hits apiece. Whitehead: Brian Nelson 2 hits (double), Eric Palmer 2 HR and 5 RBI, Jimmy Bradley HR, Mike Watson 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Anthony Rooney 2 hits and 2 runs.



Color Haus 17, View Point 6

Leading 5-3 after four innings of a tight defensive battle, Color Haus sent 14 batters to the plate in a 12-run, 11-hit fifth inning. Kathy Harper Seal ripped 2 hits in the big uprising including a 2-run triple, and Chris Benson finished the 10-run frame with a 3-run HR. Color Haus (24 hits): Bryan Burrell 3 hits (double) and 3 runs, Shannon Webb 2 hits and 2 runs, Chris Benson 4 hits, Jeff Burrell 3 hits (HR, double) and 2 runs, Josh Jacobson 3 hits and 2 runs, Brenda Blackwell 3 hits and 2 runs. Lefty?s (27 hits) steamrolled the Pioneer with 6-run, 5-run and 9-run innings. Lefty?s: Levie Smith 4 hits and 4 runs, Buffalo Rixon 3 hits (2 HR) and 3 runs, Dave Hausmann 3 doubles and 3 runs, Nicole Buckwalter 2 hits and 4 runs, Wendy Speth HR, Frank Salvoni 3 hits and 3 runs. Pioneer: Dillon Witmer 3 hits (triple, double) and 2 runs, John Fanghella 3 hits (double, triple) and 2 runs.



Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt 14, Lefty?s Bar & Grill 11 (6 innings)

Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt pushed across 3 runs in the visitor sixth to break open a close game. Warren Christiansen (3 hits, 2 runs) opened with a leadoff double, Sarah Parker (3 hits, 2 runs) singled and Brian Shea (3 hits, 2 runs) followed with an RBI double. Sawtooth Club: Eric Ayers 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Pat McGee 3 hits (HR) and 3 runs, Cameron Leady 2 hits (triple). Lefty?s: Buffalo Rixon 2 hits (HR, double) and 3 runs, Craig Webb HR.



Casino 17, East Ave. Bistro/Empty Beer 5

Leading 2-1 in the home third, the Casino put up a 5-spot in the third and added 7 runs on 6 hits in the fourth for an insurmountable 14-1 lead. Anthony Anderson (3 hits, HR, triple, double) belted a pair of extra-base hits in the decisive innings. Casino: Jerod Ball 2 hits and 3 runs, Matt Stacey 2 hits and 2 runs, Joyce Fogg 2 hits, Kristin Derrig and Idie Mawby 2 hits apiece. Empty Beer: Dave Swenke 3 hits and 2 runs; 2 hits apiece by Mike Davis, Chad Pringle, Kami Miller and Jim Carlsen.



Ketchum/SV Firefighters 24, Casino 7 (6 innings)

The Firefighters (26 hits) hosed off the Casino as leadoff batter Matt Christian set the table with 4 hits (2 doubles) and 4 runs. Firefighters: Karly Maratea 3 hits and 5 runs, Keith Potter 5 hits (HR, double) and 5 runs, Lindsey Vanbramer 5 hits and 3 runs. Casino: Anthony Anderson 3 hits (HR, 2 doubles) and 3 runs, Matt Stacey triple, Gary Moser 2 hits.



Whitehead Landscaping 19, Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt Tavern 13

Ahead 8-4 after three innings because of 4-run, 10-hit explosions in the opening two frames, Whitehead Landscaping batted around in the fourth for a 7-run, 7-hit inning that nearly put the game out of reach. Whitehead: Brian Nelson 3 doubles and 3 runs, Brigette Gross 3 hits and 4 RBI, Eric Palmer 2 HR and 5 RBI, Mike Watson 4 hits (3 doubles) and 3 runs, Anthony Rooney 4 hits (triple, double) and 2 runs. Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt: Eric Ayers 2 hits and 3 runs, Pat McGee 5 hits (cycle) and 2 runs, Warren Christiansen 3 hits (double, triple) and 2 runs.



Ketchum/SV Firefighters 15, Whitehead Landscaping 8

Matt Christian (3 hits, 2 runs) delivered an RBI double and Keith Potter (3 hits, 2 runs) followed with a run-scoring triple in the 5-run Firefighters second for a 6-1 lead, then the winners nailed down third place with a 6-run sixth ignited by singles off the bats of Karly Maratea (2 hits, 2 runs) and Lindsey Vanbramer (2 hits, 2 runs). Firefighters: Aja Dailey 3 hits and 2 runs, Matt Zachary and Ken Edwards 2 hits each. Whitehead: Brian Nelson 3 hits (HR), Eric Palmer 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, Jimmy Bradley and Becky Simpson 3 hits apiece.



View Point 16, Ketchum/SV Firefighters 11

The Firefighters looked ready for the upset, starting off with an 8-run, 7-hit first and building their lead to 11-9 after four innings. But they went quietly with just 1 hit the rest of the way?as View Point rallied with a 7-run, 10-hit fifth. View Point: Jeff Sarchett 4 hits (triple) and 3 runs, Robin Sarchett 4-for-4 (2 HR, double) and 3 runs, Rod Watson 3 hits (2 doubles), Hoss Schmidt 3 hits. Firefighters: Lindsey Vanbramer 4 hits and 2 runs, Matt Zachary 4-for-4.

View Point 21, Color Haus 7

View Point (25 hits) hit all the gaps, led by Robin Sarchett (3 hits, 2 HR, 5 runs and 5 RBI), Rod Watson (4 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBI), Wendy Hosman (4 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBI), Nelson Drewien (3 hits, 3 runs) and Hoss Schmidt (3 hits). Color Haus (13 hits): Josh Jacobson 3 HR and 4 RBI, Bryan Burrell 4 hits (inside-the-park HR) and 2 runs.


Color Haus 16, View Point 9 (championship)

Jeff Burrell (3 hits, 3 runs, 4 RBI) drilled a grand slam HR in Color Haus? 5-run first, then Josh Jacobson (3 hits, 3 runs, 4 RBI) ripped a 2-run shot in the fourth. Color Haus outhit View Point 20-15, took advantage of View Point miscues and did a great job of hitting with two outs. Color Haus: Kathy Harper Seal 3 hits, John Rathfon 3 hits and 2 runs, Bonnie Burrell 3 hits. View Point: 2 hits apiece by Rod Watson, Wendy Hosman, Nelson Drewien and Hoss Schmidt, and Kyle Rushton 2 RBI.
