RESULTS
Coors Light Cyclones 11, Waxroom Snappers 6
The World Series rivals used four pitchers apiece, but the Cyclones out-hit the Snappers 12-6 and nailed down the second-half title with their fourth straight win. The top four Cyclones batters went 8-for-17 with 9 RBI, and #6 hitter Brian Nelson batted 3-for-5 with 2 doubles. Riley Nash (6K) got the win with three innings of no-hit, scoreless work, then Nelson and Ryan Stavros mopped up. For the Snappers, righty Hoss Schmidt threw eight innings. Cyclones: Stavros 2 hits and 3 runs, James Cordes and Kellen Chatterton 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI apiece, John Rathfon 2 hits and 5 RBI. Snappers: Tim Mott 2 RBI (double), Jeremy Scherer 2 hits and 2 runs.
Coors Light Cyclones 10, Clearwater Clippers 1
Lefty Riley Nash of the Cyclones tamed the Clippers with a 2-hit, 12K pitching performance over six innings, with James Cordes mopping up with three frames of 1-hit work. Brian Nelson (4 hits, 3 runs) spearheaded the 13-hit Cyclones attack. Other contributors included Riley Nash (3 hits, 2 runs), Kellen Chatterton (2 hits, double) and Tim Carter (double, 2 RBI). Danny Turner had 2 hits for the Clippers, who got 7-plus innings of pitching from Jared Baldwin.
Clearwater Clippers 11, Lefty?s River Dogs 1
Behind a complete-game 3-hitter thrown by righthander Scott Seaward (10 K), the Clippers won their first game of the second half with a 13-hit attack. Clearwater cracked open a 1-1 game with a 5-run sixth featuring 1-out hits by Steve Durkin (2 hits, 2 runs), Matt Conover (3 hits, 3 RBI), Nelson Drewien (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Seaward (2 hits). Danny Turner added 2 hits and Robin Sarchett scored twice for the winners.
Waxroom Snappers 8, Lefty?s River Dogs 6
The River Dogs (out-hitting the Snappers 9-5) put up a good fight, rallying from a 7-0 deficit and cutting their deficit to 8-6 after six frames. But that?s the way it stayed, chiefly because of the three-inning-plus relief pitching stint of Snappers ace Matt Zachary (0 runs, 0 hits, 0 walks, 9 Ks). The winning pitcher was Jeff Poggi, who scattered 9 hits in five-plus innings. Zachary also delivered a 2-run triple in the third giving the Snappers a 4-0 cushion. Also pitching well for the Dogs were starter Dan Freeman and reliever Josh Jacobson (7 K), who allowed 1 hit and 1 run in five frames but also walked 7 Snappers. Snappers: Matt Buxton 2 runs, Curtis Bacca 3 runs, Chris Zarkos 2 hits. Dogs: Max Paisley 3 hits and 2 runs, Dan Freeman 2 RBI, Anthony Anderson 2 hits.
