Practices for prep players ready to roll

At Wood River


Wood River High School athletic coaches have announced the starting dates for pre-season practices.



Cross country

Coach James Foster said Wood River High cross country practices will begin Monday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 a.m. Meet in the high school com-mons area and be prepared for a workout.


The Wolverine parent and runner meeting will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Workouts will be held weekdays at 7:30 a.m. until school starts on Aug. 30, and then workouts will be at 3:40 p.m. Freshman and junior run-ners need to get physicals prior to taking part in the workouts.

Football

Practice sessions for players in the 10-12 grades run from 5-9 p.m. Mon-day through Friday, and from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday. Official practice for freshmen begins on Friday, August 13.

All 9th graders must have a cur-rent physical in order to practice and play.

The first varsity game of the sea-son is home against Mountain Home Aug. 26.



Girls? soccer

The first practice for the Wood River girls? soccer teams is Friday, Aug. 13 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the WRHS track oval. Bring running shoes, soccer cleats and plenty of water.

Other practices are Saturday, Aug. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the high school soccer field; Monday, Aug. 16 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the high school track; and Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the soccer field. For details, contact coach Greg Gvozdas, 727-1687.



Volleyball

Practices for Wood River high school players begin Friday, August 13 from 9:30-11:30 am and 6:00-8:00 p.m. For details, contact Kim Ri-chards, 578-7847.



Boys? soccer

First-year varsity coach Farrell Swain said boys? soccer practice will run August 13-27. Two-a-day ses-sions for both varsity and jayvee players take place from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the high school soccer field in Hailey. Players should bring cleats and running shoes, a water bottle, and shin guards.
