PRCA Labor Day rodeo takes shape
In Hailey Sept. 4-5
For the second straight year, the Sawtooth Rangers Riding Club will stage a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo over Labor Day weekend in Hailey.
Sawtooth Rangers president Amber McMurdo said she hopes this year?s dates are more crowd-friendly than last year?s inaugural ride, when the PRCA rodeo in Hailey was staged on the Monday night of Labor Day weekend.
The PRCA rodeo is set for Saturday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. at Hailey Rodeo Arena.
Newly added to the schedule is a special pre-rodeo Spanish bullfighting exhibition by Gary Hoffman. It will take place 30 minutes before each rodeo.
Ticket prices are the same as Hai-ley?s Independence Day rodeo?reserved tickets are $15, and $10 for general admission and $6 for kids (add $2 if purchased at the gate).
Reserved and general admission tickets go on sale Monday, Aug. 16 at Albertsons in Hailey. Guffy?s in Bellevue is selling general admission tickets, only. You can also reserve tickets by calling 788-1232.
?We had a rough start last year. Monday was a bad day. We?re hoping the new days bring in a lot more spectators,? McMurdo said.
Mike Kimball is providing a custom saddle to the high money winner of the combined Days of the Old West and Labor Day rodeos, McMurdo said. ?We hope that brings more cowboys,? she said.
