The Sun Valley Twisters women’s ice hockey team participated in the Harvest Classic tournament in Boise Oct. 24-26.

Sun Valley (3-1 for the weekend) placed second in the “Lower C Division,” dropping its final game to the Black Widows of Boise 1-0.

The Wood River Valley women defeated The Breakfast Club of Boise 2-0 and 1-0, and got a three-goal hat trick by Lea Piper in beating Black Widows 4-1 in a preliminary.

In the Friday 2-0 opener against The Breakfast Club, Sun Valley Twister scorers were Cheyenne House (assisted by Kim Rogers, Janet Salvoni) and Liz Wallace (unassisted late in the 3rd). Goalie Wendy Venable earned the shutout.

Piper took a pass from Lolly Greeninger and scored for the 1-0 winning goal over The Breakfast Club on Saturday.

That afternoon, Piper scored on assists by Janice Gillette and Kim Rogers (2) for her hat trick. Steph Miller (Cheyenne House) wrapped up Twisters scoring in the second period in the 4-1 win over Black Widows.

Sun Valley had 19 shots on the Black Widows net in the Sunday title game. But the Twisters couldn’t finish for a goal, which is what Boise did putting the winner on the clock with 3:47 left in the third.

Other skaters for coach Hannah Carr were Amy Anderson, Susanne Connor, Courtney Hamilton, Caren Harris, Teresa Lipman, Beth McLam and Becky Stokes.
