Scary fun

By WILLY COOK

All Hallows’ Eve, or Halloween, has turned out to be one of the more popular and celebrated American holidays. The last day of October has become synonymous with trick-or-treating, somewhat pagan costume parties, playing pranks, carving pumpkins and haunted houses. In the Wood River Valley on Halloween last Friday, people of all ages strolled the streets in elaborate costumes. Clockwise from top right: 1) A headless messenger hands out goodies during Hailey’s annual Halloween Hoopla event Friday afternoon. 2) An American Indian chief visits the Sawtooth Club in Ketchum. 3) A principle and prominent figure during Hemingway Elementary School’s annual parade Friday morning was the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley. Was it the school principal, Don Haisley? 4) A family of Hailey Hoopla participants goes trick-or-treating at downtown businesses. 5) A family in West Ketchum welcomes trick-or-treaters to their abode Friday evening.
