Wild West is theme for SVSEF Wild Game Dinner-

     The Wild West is the theme for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s 37th annual Wild Game Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the Limelight Room of the Sun Valley Inn.

     There will be live and silent auctions, and heavy appetizers and a reimagined dinner menu by John Murcko, Sun Valley Resort’s executive chef and director of food and beverage.

     Artie Hemphill and the Iron Horse Band from Salt Lake City will provide live music.

     Funds raised benefit the 500-plus SVSEF athletes on its alpine, cross country, snowboarding, freestyle-freeskiing and big mountain teams.

     Tickets are $125 per person through Oct. 31 and $150 in November. Tables of eight, 10, and 16 are available for seating. Table sponsorships are offered. Make your reservations by Nov. 12. For reservations/tickets, call Jody Zarkos at 726-4129 ext. 102.

 

Hole-in-one at The Valley Club

     Allan Snyder aced the second hole of The Valley Club South Nine on Monday, Oct. 20. His hole-in-one was from the White Tees (137 yards) using a 7-iron. Witnesses were Mike O’Neil and Dan Murphy.

 

Sign-ups for B, B+ hockey leagues are underway

     Sign-ups for the 2014-15 B and B+ Hockey Leagues started last Friday. Final sign up is Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. League play will begin in early- to mid-November.

     B league is a fun non-competitive co-ed adult hockey league, while B+ is a competitive co-ed league for more advanced players.

     You need to provide a $260 non-refundable league fee along with proof of USA Hockey registration. Entry forms can be turned in at either Sturtevants in Ketchum or Sturtos in Hailey.

     Find great deals on figure skating and ice hockey gear during the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club Skate Swap on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 2-5 p.m. at Sun Valley Indoor Ice Rink. For more details about the sale, and about selling your equipment, call 622-8020.

 

Baseball, softball meeting Nov. 10, board members sought

     The Wood River Baseball and Softball Association (WRBSA) will hold its annual meeting Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Community Campus in Hailey.

     Five board positions, all with voting privileges, need to be filled for two-year terms. They are general board members (3 spots available), baseball director and softball director. Candidates should plan on attending the Nov. 10 meeting.

Openings for SVSEF Devo Team

     The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is inviting kids ages 7-10, in grades 2-5, to the SVSEF Devo Team for the 2014-15 winter season. Training on Baldy and Dollar will greet the kids, who gather for 50 days this winter on Saturdays and Sundays, plus a holiday camp. You’ll train basic skiing techniques, All-Mountain, intro to giant slalom and slalom, mogul progression and Park/Pipe progression. Call 726-4129 or visit svsef.org.
