A jury trial has been scheduled for a fourth time for a Florida man who is charged with one felony and two misdemeanor crimes in connection with a disturbance earlier this year at Sun Valley Resort.
Chauncey Forbush Lufkin, 56, is accused of felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest in an incident the morning of Dec. 28, 2013, that started at the Sun Valley Inn and was concluded at the Sun Valley Lodge, where Lufkin was arrested by Sun Valley police.
Lufkin, free on $10,000 bond, allegedly damaged a room at Sun Valley Inn, battered his son who tried to calm him down, scuffled with Sun Valley police at Sun Valley Lodge and was found in possession of cocaine when searched at the Blaine County jail after being arrested.
Lufkin, along with his lawyer, Idaho Falls attorney Allen H. Browning, appeared at a scheduling conference on Monday in Blaine County 5th District Court, when Judge Robert J. Elgee scheduled the trial, expected to last three days, for Jan. 20, 2015.
It was the fourth time a jury trial has been scheduled for Lufkin. Three others, earlier set for June 10, Aug. 20 and Oct. 22, were canceled following the filing of defense motions.
“I’ve reset this twice already and I don’t want it continued again,” Elgee told the defendant.
