Otter has led Idaho backwards

We’ve all seen Idaho’s governor with his cheery, election-year smile claiming everything is fine; we are “continuing our march to excellence.” Wow. What planet is he on?
In the last eight years of Otter’s watch, Idaho has “marched” to being 50th in per capita income; 49th highest in percentage of workers making minimum wage; 47th in high school graduates continuing on to college; and 50th in per K-12 student educational funding—just to name some of our “march to excellence” ratings. Since 2008, Idaho has decreased state funding for higher education by 37 percent per student and investment per K-12 student has declined by 16 percent. This is Otter’s “leadership” while increasing spending on prisons by 53 percent.
Will this motivate more companies to come to Idaho to do business? A well-educated workforce is essential to attracting new companies. We’ve marched in the wrong direction and must now march to a different drummer.
A.J. Balukoff is that drummer. Balukoff has served, elected and unpaid, for 17 years on the Boise School Board, six of these years as president. A.J. knows education and the economy are linked and are the keys for Idaho to compete in the 21st century. As both a successful CPA and business owner, A.J. knows finance and what Idaho needs to succeed.
Idaho needs someone with proven leadership skills and a commitment to excellence to lead us in the right direction. A.J. Balukoff for governor is that man.
