Having grown by 50 new members in just this year alone, the Wood River Women’s Charitable Foundation, now 250 strong, is hoping to bolster its goal of changing Blaine County through pooled giving. The group’s grants to various nonprofit groups have resulted in more than $1,240,000 being given to local charities over the course of 10 years.
The foundation is now asking nonprofit groups to send in grant requests for the next round of giving. Nonprofit foundations (defined as those holding a 501(c)3 certificate) may apply for $5,000 to $25,000 to use toward their projects. The deadline for submitting grant requests (letters of inquiry) is Friday, Oct. 31.
“The foundation is committed to affording each applying nonprofit an equal opportunity,” a news release from the foundation states.
The foundation is inviting all nonprofits that are considering submitting a letter of inquiry to an informational meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 8:30 a.m. at Light on the Mountains, 12446 state Highway 75, south of Ketchum. At this meeting, representatives of the Grants Committee will answer questions about the process and criteria of the foundation. Examples of the criteria are that the project(s) address the overall enrichment of the community, create new approaches to persistent problems, develop new ventures, or address a critical community need in Blaine County.
The foundation welcomes joint projects and encourages collaborations and forging partnerships among agencies toward common goals. In the past, it has funded The Hunger Coalition, Sawtooth Botanical Garden, Flourish Foundation, Surefoot Farms, NAMI and The Advocates.
