District goes green with Peachjar service

Paper flyers to be replaced with electronic distribution

By EXPRESS STAFF

The Blaine County School District announced Friday that paper flyers from nonprofit organizations that are sent home routinely with elementary school students will, starting today, be replaced with electronic flyers.
In a news release, the district reported that the change is consistent with the “district’s continued effort to be more environmentally friendly, embrace innovative technology and focus staff on students.”
“We want to thank our nonprofit partners for helping us save trees and staff time by moving to electronic flyers,” stated district Communications Director Heather Crocker.
The district is using the Peachjar online service to implement the program.
Parents can receive electronic flyers via email or by clicking on the Peachjar logo for each school at the district website at www.blaineschools.org. Parents without email can check the community bulletin boards at each school.
A paper flyer is being sent home with each student to explain the new system.
The new system allows nonprofit organizations to upload flyers and send them to parents through email and school websites. Nonprofit organizations can also ask for permission to post a flyer on the community bulletin board at each school.
Events that are free of charge can be publicized free of charge through Peachjar, although a fee will be charged for posting events that have registration or attendance fees.
Flyers will need to be in compliance with district policy 902.1, which establishes rules for posting and states the type of materials prohibited.
