Suzanne Sumell


    Suzanne Coffman Sumell, 83, of Hailey, Idaho, passed away at home on Sept. 22, 2014.
    Sue was born on Aug. 8, 1931, in Mount Morris, Ill., to Ruth (Prugh) and Howard Eugene “Brick” Coffman. After graduating from Mount Morris High School, Sue moved to Denver. She met and married Walter Sumell in 1956, and together they had three children. Sue lived in Lenox and Westfield, Mass., Clifton Park, N.Y., Las Vegas, Nev., Enterprise, Ore., Westlake Village, Calif., Charlotte, N.C., and moved to Hailey in 2000. Sue is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Jim and Bill Coffman.
    Sue loved people, laughing and playing Scrabble. She was a great cook and will be remembered for her insight and her sense of humor. She is greatly missed.
    Sue is survived by her children, Steve Sumell and wife, Denise, of Fort Worth, Texas, Nancy Cooley and husband, Pat, of Hailey, and Eric Sumell of Ketchum; grandchildren Regina (Brian) VanderWyst, Stephanie Sumell, Mark Sumell, Frank Sumell, Sara Cooley and Kevin Cooley; and a great-granddaughter, Vivian VanderWyst.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation.
    A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Friends are invited to leave condolences and share memories at www.woodriverchapel.com.
