68 road runners help boost “Meals on Wheels”

     The Senior Connection of Hailey staged its fifth annual Road Runner 5k (3.1-mile) fun run/walk to raise funds for Blaine County’s only “Meals on Wheels” program on Saturday along Hailey streets.

     Event organizer Kimberly Coonis, executive director of The Senior Connection, said there were 68 runners. Special prizes went to the first-place man and first-place woman (Dave Keir and Julie Carney), first senior runner (Grace Dyck), and the first runner under age 18 (Alexandra Begley).

     Among those improving finishing times over last year were Teresa Espedal 10:19, Judy Stoltzfus 10:17, Liv Nelson 6:34 along with Kathy Butler and Bill Butler 0:48.

     Coonis said, “The event raises awareness of a program that serves the entire Wood River Valley. The entry fee of each person provides food for a homebound person for a week.” Here are top results:
