Healthy balance in passing and rushing yardage led to eight touchdowns for the Carey High School eight-man football team Friday night in its 60-0 victory at Richfield.

Carey (4-0) posted its first Sawtooth Conference West Division victory of the season with a 567-yard attack including 358 yards in rushing and 150 yards through the air.

Senior Nate Adamson (115 yards rushing) scored three touchdowns on the ground and tossed three touchdown passes to junior Joe Parke (5 catches, 100 yards). Adamson has now scored 13 TDs and 86 of Carey’s 226 points over four games.

Junior Zach Olsen and Parker Gamino added TD runs.

Parke (8 tackles, 7 assists) and Adamson (7/2) led Carey’s defense that limited Richfield to 109 rushing yards and just 70 by passing. Carey’s offensive time of possession was 34 minutes for the entire game.

“The offense executed well. We worked on our passing in the first half and our running in the second half,” said Carey head coach Lane Kirkland.

It was a big week of scoring for Carey teams, since the Panther junior varsity defeated Murtaugh 76-12 last Thursday.

Leading the way for Richfield Friday were senior quarterback Jeff Henson (11-for-19, 70 yards) and senior running back Victor Robles (12 carries for 82 yards, plus 2 catches for 29 yards and 6 kickoff returns for another 73 yards).

Richfield (2-2, 0-1) hosts Lighthouse Christian Academy of Twin Falls Friday, Sept. 26—unbeaten Lighthouse (4-0, 1-0) coming off its 47-20 home division win over Dietrich (3-1, 0-1) Friday in Twin.

Meanwhile, Carey goes into its bye week after the Friday, Sept. 26 home divisional game against the Camas County Mushers (0-4, 0-1). Opening kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday at Derrick Parke Memorial Field.

Carey last played Camas two years ago, winning 45-0 at home. Carey also beat Camas 46-0 at home in 2010 and 48-0 in Fairfield in 2009. The Mushers played six-man football last fall. They average 18.0 ppg offense and 61.3 ppg defense.
