Hunger Coalition offers snack program

Organization partners with local schools to promote nutrition

By EXPRESS STAFF

The Blaine County Hunger Coalition is partnering with local schools to help parents make sure that youngsters are able to eat nutritional foods through the free Snack Pack Program.
“Getting kids to eat healthy foods is often the biggest hurdle for parents on a tight budget,” the Hunger Coalition stated in a news release. “This added financial stress can be unbearable, which is why The Hunger Coalition introduced the Snack Pack Program in 2008, where kids in need receive a bag of healthy supplemental meals and snacks each week.
“We all know that kids can be picky eaters. Now, parents don’t have to worry about saying no.”
The news release states that Snack Packs include fresh fruits, “fun proteins and kid-friendly options.”
The program is funded through donations. More information is available at 788-0121.
Founded in 2003, The Blaine County Hunger Coalition strives to end hunger in the community by providing wholesome food to those in need and by promoting solutions to the underlying causes of hunger through collaboration, education and advocacy.
