Vote Fosbury for Idaho House

While we are in the early days of the 2014 campaign for state elections, I would like to encourage voters to choose an outstanding local candidate for Idaho House of Representatives: Dick Fosbury.
Our paths have crossed throughout the many years we have lived in Blaine County, usually as volunteers for civic groups. In the last year, Dick has served as chairman for the Blaine County Comprehensive Plan Update process; I have worked closely with him as a volunteer on the committee and find his perspective and insight particularly helpful.
As a civil engineer and co-owner of Galena Engineering and as chairperson for the County P&Z, Dick applies the same approach as he did when he took the gold-medal in high jump in the 1968 Olympics. He looks at the problem from varying angles and thinks analytically before he steps up to a unique solution.
Dear to Dick’s heart is the concern for Idaho’s education system and its current challenge to provide our kids with the tools they need to succeed. He points out that Idaho is last in the nation for family wages and 94 out of 115 school districts need supplemental levies just to “keep the lights on.”
Dick will work at the state level for policies that attract and retain businesses that pay good wages; locally, Dick sees a need to create job-training partnerships between schools like CSI and Idaho companies. Innovative programs and funding mechanisms need legislative support if we are to ensure that our children receive the education and training needed to take advantage of career opportunities within our state.
Dick’s campaign is off to a great start as he applies his honest work ethic, and he looks to see where he can be most effective as a legislator. Dick has my vote and I hope he has yours, too.
