Ketchum sets hearing to adjust 2013-2014 budget

By AMY BUSEK
Express Staff Writer

The city of Ketchum will hold a public hearing Monday, Sept. 15, to consider a $1.6 million increase to appropriations made for the current fiscal year 2013-2014 budget.
The city may amend its budget and annual appropriation ordinance as long as it publishes two notices in the local newspaper and holds a public hearing, according to Idaho Code.
Included in the proposed amendments is additional budgeting for the new 1 percent local-option tax, for which collections began January 2014. An Idaho Power Franchise Fee Fund increase is proposed for Fifth Street undergrounding costs, as well as more funds for maintenance costs under Ketchum Parks and Recreation, city documents indicate.
Increases over the original appropriation include: $4,500 into the Park Capital Improvement Fund, $88,260 into the Park and Rec Development Trust Fund, $1.258 million from the 1 percent LOT to the Air Service Board, $50,000 to the Idaho Power Franchise Fee Fund and $125,000 in the Development Trust Fund for security agreement refunds.
The public hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. at Ketchum City Hall.
