4 Bellevue seats open for election

Friday deadline for candidates to file

The mayor of Bellevue and three City Council members could face challenges in the November city elections.
Whomever sits on the City Council will soon be reviewing a major annexation request by the Eccles family that could bring far-reaching changes to the city.
The deadline for declaring candidacy is Friday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m.
The seats of Mayor Chris Koch and council members Larry Plott, Barb Patterson and Amber Avila are all up for re-election. So far, they are running unopposed.
Candidates who want to vie for the open seats must be residents of Bellevue for at least 30 days and have completed a petition of support that includes at least five signatures from registered Bellevue voters.
“There have been no petitions filed yet,” said Bellevue City Clerk Dee Barton on Tuesday.
City Council members and the mayor serve two-year terms.
The seats for council Chair Dave Hattula and council members Lisa Phillips and Janet Duffy will not be open for re-election until next year.
