Ketchum holds its Ice Bucket Challenge today

     Watch somebody else get wet in the Ice Bucket Challenge when Ketchum holds its own event today, Friday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in the field next to Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church along Sun Valley Road.

     Event organizer Trish Wilson said, “There are a number of local people who have or have had ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). A year ago, they raised $2.5 million in their fundraising for ALS research. This year the amount is well over $80 million because of the Ice Bucket Challenges.”

     Bring your bucket, water and ice and join today’s fun. “We hope to have as many people as we can join us for the event,” said Wilson.

     Ketchum is also challenging Hailey and Bellevue citizens to take part. Wilson said, “We’re doing this as the Ketchum community. We’re challenging the communities of Hailey and Bellevue to have their own Ice Bucket Challenge.”

 

Putting for the mutts on Wednesday at Sun Valley
     The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley is staging its 2014 “Putts for Mutts” fundraiser Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 3 p.m. at Sun Valley Golf Club’s Sawtooth Putting course.

     Plans call for 18 foursomes to take part. Register at 2 p.m. Cost is $50 for early registration, and $60 for late registration on Wednesday. You can sign up with friends or be assigned to a team.

Hailey holds Bike Safety Rodeo on Tuesday, says farewell to “Hometown Teams”

     If you haven’t had a chance to check out the city of Hailey’s “Hometown Teams” exhibit at the Wertheimer Park Chamber of Commerce building……

     Be sure to view the Smithsonian Institute’s traveling exhibit one last time Tuesday, Sept. 2 during the “Smithsonian Exhibit Farewell” gathering and Bike Safety Rodeo from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hailey Rodeo Grounds gateway center.

     Ride the bike safety course and have some refreshments during Tuesday’s party.

 

Save money, sign up now for the Nasty 9 trail run

     Save yourself $10 by signing up through Sunday, Aug. 31 for the Nasty 9 nine-mile trail run scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13. Early bird race fee is $32.50 per person, or $42.50 through the deadline of Sept. 10.
