A 35-year-old Blaine County man accused of having a long-term sexual relationship with an underage girl pleaded guilty this week to a single count of rape, a crime punishable in Idaho by up to life in prison.
Pedro Asuncion Ore-Quispe offered his guilty plea on Monday to Judge Robert J. Elgee in Blaine County 5th District Court. Elgee ordered that a pre-sentence investigation be conducted and scheduled sentencing for 10 a.m. on Oct. 27.
Ore-Quispe, represented by Hailey attorney Douglas Nelson, remains incarcerated in the Blaine County jail on $250,000 bond.
Ore-Quispe was indicted by a Blaine County grand jury on Nov. 26, 2013, and charged with five felonies, including three counts of rape, one count of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16 and one count of sexual abuse of a child.
In a plea agreement with the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Ore-Quispe agreed to plead guilty to a single count of rape in exchange for the other four charges being dismissed.
Ore-Quispe is accused in the indictment of having a five-year sexual relationship with the girl that started when she was 10. The indictment alleges that Ore-Quispe started a sexual relationship with the girl in 2008 and that it continued into 2013. He was arrested on Nov. 13, 2013, after the girl’s mother complained to authorities.
Ore-Quispe is also accused in an immigration detainer, filed by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, of being in the United States illegally. The detainer requires that Ore-Quispe be turned over to the federal agency if released from state custody.
