BCRD offers fall youth soccer programs

New: Boys’ and girls’ programs to be separated

Boys and girls of all abilities are welcome to join the Blaine County Recreation District’s fall youth soccer program for ages 3-5 and all the way up to the sixth grade. Sign-ups are underway, online.

In a change of format, programs for kids in grade 1-6 are now separated by gender, “to provide a better experience for youth participants,” the BCRD stated on its bcrd.org promotional material.

The Hailey-based program is now divided into three areas: Soccer for Kindergarten/5-year-old, Youth Soccer for boys in grades 1-6, and Youth Soccer for girls in grades 1-6.

Online (bcrd.org) and in-person registrations are being accepted.

For most programs, coaches and sponsors are still needed. Contact Brad Musbach at 578-5458 or email him at bmusbach@bcrd.org.

BCRD Sports and League coordinator Musbach reminded parents that if they’re interested in having their child play in Ketchum, they should contact Ketchum Parks and Recreation at 726-7820.

Hailey program descriptions for this fall are the following:

       · Soccer for Kindergarten/5-year-olds meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 18-Oct. 21, from 5:15-6 p.m. at Nelson Field. It is a clinic-style program for soccer development. There will be no teams.

Cost is $60 online, $65 at the BCRD office or $75 if paid after Thursday, Sept. 18. Participants should just meet at Nelson Field. They won’t be contacted by a coach.

       · Youth Soccer for girls and Youth Soccer for boys, in grades 1-6. The details are identical for this year’s separate programs.

Both feature coaches and a fall game schedule. Practices are held at these Hailey fields: Nelson, Cutters, Foxmoor, Keefer and Woodside.

Games will be held on six Saturdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at either Nelson Field in Hailey or Atkinson Park in Ketchum. The six Saturdays are Sept. 20 and 27, and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Each team practices twice a week for one hour each time the team meets. Practices starting the week of Sept.15-16 are Monday or Wednesday between the hours of 4-7 p.m., or Tuesday and Thursday.

Cost is $60 online, $65 at the BCRD office or $75 after Tuesday, Sept. 9. The cost includes instruction, jersey and participation medal.
