District to consider finance committee

Monthly school board meeting set for Tuesday, Aug. 12

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

The Blaine County School District board of trustees may be ready to establish a financial advisory committee, an action that some district patrons have been seeking for two years.
A draft plan pertaining to the committee has now been prepared by a district review committee and is scheduled to be provided to the school board for discussion and possible action at the board’s next regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
The draft plan provides that the committee be designated as a “financial committee” to emphasize the fact that it would be a standing committee rather than a temporary committee or task force. If approved, the committee would be comprised of community members and district officials and would assist the school board in making decisions regarding finances.
A copy of the draft plan is attached to the meeting notice and agenda, which is available at the district website at www.blaineschools.org.
The Aug. 12 meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the district office at 118 West Bullion St. in Hailey.
