YMCA youth football gears up

Online sign-ups close Aug. 3


     The first season of Wood River YMCA Youth Football is ready to get underway.

     Director Alex Padilla said Tuesday, “Fall is coming up which means football. Register your child for football online at woodriverymca.org. Registration online will be closed Sunday, Aug. 3 at midnight.

     “We will accept any players during the first week of practice. Practice starts Monday, Aug. 4 from 5:30-7 p.m. This day will be for equipment handout and registration sign ups, and a meet-and-greet of coaches and YMCA staff.”

     Practices are Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30-7 p.m. at Hailey’s Wood River Middle School football field. Bring jersey, pads, pants, cleats and water bottle to practices.

     Games will be held Saturdays after school starts, in Mountain Home and in Hailey.

     Cost for this program is: Flag football $90, tackle $150 and cheerleading $50. Scholarships are available.

     Padilla said, “The YMCA is excited to bring our values to an established organization in the Wood River Valley.”
