BSU sprinter Ian Keys makes All-Academic team
Bellevue’s Ian Keys, a 2013 Wood River High School graduate, just finished his freshman year at Boise State University and competed as a freshman sprinter on the Bronco track and field team.
Keys ran the 100-meter dash and did the opening leg on the BSU 4x100m relay squad that consisted of freshmen and sophomores. His relay team placed fourth of seven teams in the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 17 in Laramie, Wyo.
On July 7, Keys was one of 91 BSU athletes including 12 on the men’s track team rewarded for performance in the classroom by making the Spring 2014 Academic All-League team for the Mountain West.
Keys, 19, youngest of three sons of Jeff and Sheila Keys, became the first Wood River High male athlete to win a state 100m dash championship in May 2013. In that Idaho High School Activities Association track meet, Keys won both the 100m and 200m dash titles. Days later, he signed a letter of commitment to attend BSU and run track for the Broncos.
