Headlining the third of nine Sun Valley on Ice performances on Saturday, July 19 is one of the most prominent American female singles skaters over the last six years—Mirai Nagasu.

Nagasu, 21, of Arcadia, Ca. became the first American woman in 70 years to win the U.S. junior and senior titles in successive years when she captured the national title in 2008 at St. Paul, Minn.

Known as a great spinner, Nagasu placed fourth in the 2010 Olympics, at age 16. She was this year’s U.S. women’s bronze medalist. In addition, she won national silver in 2010 and national bronze in 2011.

Her parents are Japanese immigrants who operate a Japanese sushi restaurant.

Appearing with Nagasu will be Max Aaron, 22, from Scottsdale, Az., the 2013 U.S. men’s gold medalist who started out as a hockey player. He opened his gold medal-winning free skate last year with a quad jump, to “West Side Story.”

The 70-minute show starts about 9:30 p.m. at Sun Valley Outdoor Ice Rink. Doors open at 8 p.m. Non-refundable tickets are on sale at Sun Valley Recreation Office, 622-2135.

Tickets may be purchased online at sunvalley.ticketfly.com. All seating is reserved and advance reservations are recommended. You can also buy tickets at the gate before the shows.

Coming July 26: Headliners are two-time U.S. women’s queen Alissa Czisny, 27, and rising men’s star Joshua Farris, 19, from Seattle, the 2013 World Junior gold medalist.

Ice show director and producer Scott Irvine is still finalizing the headliner for the Aug. 2 show. Nonetheless, August’s lineup is full of skating stars.

On Aug. 9, it’s two-time defending U.S. skating queen Ashley Wagner, 23, with Nathan Chen. The inimitable Johnny Weir returns to spice up Sun Valley Aug. 16.

Performing Aug. 23 are two-time world champion and six-time U.S. winners Meryl Davis, 27, and Charlie White, 26. They became the first American ice dancers to win Olympic gold during February’s Sochi Olympics in Russia.
