SNRA to implement fire restrictions

Limitations to go into effect Thursday, July 17

   The Sawtooth National Forest will implement Stage 1 fire restrictions starting Thursday, July 17, the U.S. Forest Service announced this week.
   Stage 1 fire restrictions prohibit igniting, building, maintaining, attending or using a fire outside of a fire structure that is provided by the Forest Service within a designated area, and smoking outside an enclosed vehicle or building.
   The limitations will go into effect for the following National Forest areas:
l   Lands within the Salmon River watershed beginning at the intersection of Galena Summit and state Highway 75; continuing northerly along Highway 75 to the intersection of Highway 75 and the Salmon River (Buckhorn Bridge); continuing northerly along the Salmon River to the town of Lower Stanley; continuing northwesterly to the junction of National Forest Road 633 and Highway 75; continuing northwesterly along National Forest Road 633 to the junction of National Forest roads 633 and 653 (Stanley Creek Road); continuing southwesterly along National Forest Road 653 to the junction of Highway 21; continuing northwesterly along Highway 21 to the SNRA and Salmon-Challis National Forest boundary to the Boise County and Custer County boundary; continuing southerly along the Boise/Custer county line to the intersection of the Boise County, Custer County and Elmore County lines; continuing southerly along the Custer/Elmore County line to the intersection of the Custer County, Elmore County and Blaine County lines; continuing southerly along the Blaine/Elmore County line to the intersection of the Blaine County, Elmore County and Camas County lines; continuing southeasterly along the Blaine/Camas county line to a point approximately one mile south of Bromaghin Peak (divide between Wood River, Boise River and Salmon River drainages); continuing northerly along the divide between the Salmon River and Wood River drainages to the point of origin.
l   The Boundary Creek Stage 1 fire restriction area is described as all National Forest lands within 200 feet of National Forest Road 212 (Boundary Creek Road) beginning at the junction of Highway 75 and National Forest Road 212, and continuing northeasterly to the road’s terminus, located at the Boundary Creek Trailhead, including all lands within 200 feet of the Boundary Creek Trailhead.
