Kimberly Kaye Germer Prew

Kimberly Kaye Germer Prew, 41, our beautiful mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 6, 2014. After a long, courageous, fight with cancer, and surrounded by her family and loving friends, she ended her battle peacefully in her home in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Kim was born on Nov. 8, 1972, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Richard “Buzz” and Ilene Germer. Raised in Brigham City, Utah, she graduated from Box Elder High School in 1991. She attended Weber State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business in 1996.
Immediately following graduation, she followed her heart to Sun Valley. Alongside her best friends, she became the ultimate mountain girl. She adored snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking and being a staple in the Ketchum social scene. These years brought the blessings of incredible friends that gave her a lifetime of unending support. It was here that she met and fell in love with her best friend Rob. After years of friendship, they began a life of happiness and devotion to each other. They married on Oct. 22, 2006, in Napa, Calif.
On Feb. 4, 2008, she became a mother to sweet Conner James. He arrived unexpectedly early, but Kim was ready. She relished in her role as his mother and loved each moment with her son. In 2010, she and Rob were blessed again, and added spunky Olivia Kaye to their family on June 25. Her family was her pride and joy. She spent every day nurturing, caring for and loving her beautiful
children.
Kim’s quiet confidence and amazing strength drew people to her. She had the ability to make people feel loved and accepted. The gift of being a part of her life is an honor her family and friends will cherish always.
In passing, Kim joins her parents Richard Eliason and Ilene Kaye Germer, and her grandparents Harold and Frieda Uhrich, and Kenneth and Phylis Germer.
Her legacy of kindness, hope and laughter lives on in those she loved most. Her doting husband Robert Prew and her children Conner (6) and Olivia (4); her sister Kati Germer; brother Kyle (Jenn) Germer; her in-laws Peter and Shirley Prew; her brothers-in-law Chris (Christiane) Prew and Tom (Shelia) Vaias; her nieces and nephews Hadley, Presley, Ryan, Brandon, Alec, Alicia and Bronwen.
She leaves an incredible group of girlfriends who spent countless hours by her side loving her, caring for her and making her laugh.
After a private family service, a celebration of Kim’s extraordinary life will be held at an open house on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the base of the River Run ski mountain in Sun Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Wells Fargo Bank in her name. This fund will be used to place a reflection bench on Kim’s favorite hiking trail in Sun Valley.
Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel. Please visit www.woodriverchapel.com to light a candle or share a story, photo or message for the family.
