Nancy C. Barker

Nancy C. Barker passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, in Santa Rosa, Calif.
Nancy was a fun-loving and engaging woman who treasured her friends and family above all else. Nancy was a pioneer in skiing, first in Colorado and then in Sun Valley. She and husband Reid dearly loved the Sun Valley area, first coming via the Union Pacific Railroad from their home in Chicago in 1947. Nancy and Reid settled permanently in Ketchum in 1987 and especially embraced their Hulen Meadows friends and neighbors, the Jazz Festival, picnics by the Big Wood River and showing off the area to friends from far and near.
Nancy’s passions included watching British dramas, shopping and lunches on the town. Nancy and Reid were married for 68 years. Nancy was very fortunate in that she was truly involved and participated in the lives of her three children (Lindy, Chris, Carter), six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She taught them all to love the Wood River Valley and Frank Sinatra. There is no doubt in her family’s mind that she is now whirling around the dance floor to “Fly Me to the Moon” with Reid in the great hereafter.
