The Valley Club held the 18th Annual Member/Member Golf Tournament on Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21.
The event was comprised of six flights of eight teams playing 36 holes of Stroke Play. This year’s format included four different types of play conducted over four nine-hole rounds.
Formats were a Scramble, Better Ball, Modified Alternate Shot and Aggregate Total with each format used for nine holes.
The two low teams from each flight entered into a “Shoot-Out” on Saturday afternoon. The twelve teams played an alternate shot format for five holes in the Shoot-Out with higher scoring teams being eliminated at the end of each hole.
A “chip-off” was used as a tie-breaker for the purpose of elimination. On the penultimate hole, three teams were left standing. Those teams were Marty Albertson and Chris Leady; Joanne Wetherell and Candace Ryan; and Suzanne Williams and Britt Palmedo.
The team of Williams and Palmedo advanced after winning a chip-off on the previous hole, eliminating their husbands, Latham Williams and Peter Palmedo.
The team of Wetherell and Ryan went out on the fourth hole leaving the teams of Albertson and Leady facing Williams and Palmedo on the final hole.
Some great shots were traded but the team of Suzanne Williams and Britt Palmedo prevailed to own the Member/Member title for 2014.
