4 Honored In Heritage Court

The ladies of the 2014 Blaine County Heritage Court take their seats and receive crowns, clocks, flowers and accolades Sunday in Hailey for their contributions to life in the Wood River Valley. From left to right, they are Joyce Edwards of Carey, Vivian Bobbitt of Bellevue, D.A. Outzs of Hailey, and Elizabeth Simon of Sun Valley. The newest ladies gathered with previous court honorees and family for a coronation ceremony at the Liberty Theatre. Bellevue Elementary School’s recently retired local legend Mary Bird and one of her students, Gracie Peterson, 10, presented the women with letters and Acrostic poems. Peterson said writing to the women made her realize what it takes to be “a memorable person that matters.” Beginning in 2004, the Blaine County Museum has asked a community organization in each town to nominate a woman who has been especially important in the heritage of Blaine County, is 70 years of age or older, and has lived here for at least 30 years.
