Man acquitted on sex crime charges

Trial ends Thursday for Hailey man

    A Blaine County jury deliberated for about an hour and a half Thursday morning before finding a Hailey man not guilty of two counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
    The trial for Harry M. Motzkin II started on Tuesday. The case was given to the jury at about 10 a.m. Thursday and a decision was reached at about 11:30 a.m.
    Motzkin, 38, had been free on $30,000 bond since being charged with the crimes in September 2013. The charges resulted from a Hailey police investigation and the findings of a Blaine County grand jury convened by the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
    Hailey police reported in September 2013 that Motzkin was accused of inappropriate behavior with a female acquaintance under the age of 16. Police alleged then that Motzkin “exposed himself” to the girl on two occasions.
    The crime of sexual abuse of a minor is punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Conviction of the crime also requires permanent registration as a sex offender.
    Neither Motzkin nor his attorney, Selim Star, could be reached for comment on Thursday.
