The city of Sun Valley is looking for a new city clerk. Hannah Stauts, former mayor of Stanley and Sun Valley’s city clerk since October 2012, has accepted a job offer as an events coordinator for the local Killebrew Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament has been a fundraiser for cancer research since 1976.
Stauts made history as the youngest American to become mayor when she was elected in Stanley at age 22 in 2005. She held the position until 2010. Stauts says that she’s enjoyed the past year and a half with the city.
“I worked with wonderful employees,” Stauts said.
While working for the city, she’s maintained a part-time event-coordinating business and retail equipment business called Wildflower Events. Stauts says she’s passionate about event planning, though she hasn’t ruled out a future in municipal government. Stauts plans to continue her civic involvement with community outreach and work on several boards.
“I love local government,” she said.
Interested parties may apply for the open city clerk position until June 13, according to the city website. City Administrator Susan Robertson intends to put together a committee of individuals to help interview and vet candidates, starting June 23. The application and job description can be found on the Sun Valley government website.
