SV Half Marathon kicks off Saturday at resort

13.1-, 6.2- and 3.1-mile runs

The 10th annual Sun Valley Half Marathon sponsored by the Wood River YMCA takes place Saturday, June 7 at 9 a.m. starting and finishing the 13.1-mile course on the lawn next to the Sun Valley Resort Pavilion.
There are also 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) and 5k races offered.
Race packets can be picked up Friday, June 6 from 2-7:30 p.m. at the YMCA located in Ketchum at Warm Springs and Saddle roads. On race day, parking will be available in the lot across Dollar Rd. from pa-vilion, and in other resort lots.

Last year, a record field of 283 foot-racers took part as the event offered shorter distances for the first time since 2009. There were 215 half marathon-ers plus 68 at shorter distances.
Boise runner Michael Lutz, 26, paced 69 male half mara-thoners in 1.23:36. Shannon Deboer, 26, of Boise (1.33:57) clipped 3:37 off her winning time from last year and was sixth overall to lead 146 women over 13.1 miles.

CrossFit Showcase
This year, the Sun Valley Half Marathon has an extra treat in store for its attendees this year—a CrossFit showcase put on by Sun Valley CrossFit. Sun Valley CrossFit recently relocated into the YMCA and is offering classes there.
The CrossFit show case will consist of the classic CrossFit workout, “Fight Gone Bad.” Fight Gone Bad is three rounds of a six-minute workout, with athletes rotating from station to station every minute.
Anyone is welcome to par-ticipate at this event, there will be certified coaches at the event teaching newcomers the movements and the workout can be scaled to fit all abilities.
