Children have a mini-fest of their own to learn about better living. This year the children’s festival welcomes younger and older children and will celebrate movement, art, music, puppetry, and mindfulness.

You might not recognize the name Diana Nyad, but most of the world no doubt knows about the 64-year-old woman who became the first person to swim 110 miles from Cuba and Florida last fall without a shark cage.
Put a face with that story and hear more about it when Nyad serves as keynote speaker for the 17 annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival this Memorial Day weekend, May 22-26, at Sun Valley Resort.
Nyad will speak on Friday evening, May 23, at 6 p.m. She has written three books and has earned a reputation as a uniquely passionate and entertaining public speaker.
In a recent television appearance on Oprah’s “Super Soul Sunday,” Nyad noted, “Every human being on this planet has their pain and their heartache, and it’s up to all of us to find our way back to light.”
Her festival keynote presentation is titled “Find A Way.”
Wellness activist and cancer survivor Kris Carr will be another keynote speaker for the festival. Carr, a New York Times best-selling author, will speak on Sunday evening, May 25, at 6:30 p.m.
Carr is perhaps best known for her “Crazy Sexy” approach to thriving in life. Diagnosed in 2003 with a very rare and incurable but slow-growing stage 4 cancer, Carr will share her inspirational journey about living a full and healthy life, no matter what challenges may be presented.
In between is a weekend packed with workshops, classes, kids programs and a health expo, where dozens of vendors offer products and services.
Some of the other dynamic speakers include visionary spiritual leader Panache Desai, relationship expert Arielle Ford, “Heart Math” founder Howard Martin, yoga master and addiction recovery expert Tommy Rosen, author/filmmaker Eric Saperston, comedian Kyle Cease, “mindfulness meditation” expert Kate Janke, Kundalini yoga expert Kia Miller, naturopath and triathlete Dr. James Rouse, astrologist David Pond, intuitive expert Gary Quinn, Oneness leader and Interfaith minister Rev. Michael Milner and many more.

-    The festival will also feature two special film screenings on Thursday; “The Embrace of Aging,” a newly released PBS documentary on women and aging, and “The Bridgewalkers,” a documentary about the gathering of spiritual tribal leaders from around the world who gather in Greenland to share the wisdom, prophecies and ceremonies of their ancestors.
-    A free health expo—the 2014 Expo will run from May 24-26 in the Limelight Room of the Sun Valley Inn. Hours are Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
